This summer I’ve decided to do a bit more traveling than normal as several of my 1L friends have informed me that law school is where fun goes to die. Ok maybe that is a little dramatic, but that’s their take on it. If I have the desire to read for fun, travel, or really do anything other than study they have advised me to get all of that out of my system before classes start. So this summer I’m starting my farewell to fun tour. Of course this is mostly tongue-in-cheek…mostly.
From May-August I’ll be spending time with friends in DC, Florida, and Mexico focusing on catching up and logging some serious beach time. I am also working with a non-profit in Guatemala on a research project, so I’ll be roaming around Central America for all of June and part of July (more on this great organization later, but for now check out this video) which will be an amazing coffee-fueled, photo filled, exhausting experience. Stateside/in between trips there will also be a lot of reading, movie watching, yoga, cooking, and hiking- things I doubt I will have enough time for after August 21st.
It’s not that I’m dreading the start of classes, I’m actually really excited about it which seems to annoy my friends who are stressing over finals right now. Taking time off between undergrad and law school was the best decision I’ve ever made. This year did not end up the way I thought it would, but I know that I’ll be starting the next three years as happily and calmly as possible.
More updates to come…
